Blogger Love Week- Day 2

Welcome to Blogger Love Week 2!!

This round we have some returning bloggers and some new ones as well! We will have a different question everyday so make sure to check it out daily to see what some of your favorites have to say!! If you click on check person's name it will take you directly to the their blog, so you can go check out all the stuff they have!! If you aren't familiar with Blogger Love Week, you can check out the original post here from earlier this year. Day 2 is here and the questions are starting to get a little more personal and intriguing, HAHA! I forgot to mention this yesterday but I want to thank Amanda my Editor (hehe), she helped me clean up and organize these questions. I call her my Editor because she is great at being organized and can spruce up and organize my random mind. A BIG THANK YOU!!!!! Now onto today's question......

The Brands:
As we spend more and more time engrossed in polish and beauty blogging, it’s impossible to not learn encyclopedic knowledge about colors, finishes, collections, and marketing.  Have these things ever given you the itch to create your own line?  If it has, what do you think your brand would be called and inspired by?

Katherine-
As far as starting my own line of polish, I’ve never really been inspired to take it that far. I have frankened a small amount of polishes for my own consumption. I absolutely love everything I see all of the indie makers putting together and I feel it’s best for me to leave it up to them. I’ve come up with my own frankens that I absolutely love and frankens that are a bleeding sinking mess of glitter. I’m really falling in love with all of the square glitter we’ve been seeing lately and I’ve been thinking about trying it again, but just for my own personal use.

Meredith-
I think it would be fun to have my own polish line! I do have possible names for it as well, and they would be either Sweet Pea (my dad calls me that sometimes) or Diteranne (another childhood nickname!) I have made a few frankens myself, but they never get names! I know what I would call my brand, but I can never think of good polish names!

Tara-

Yes, sort of! Though part of me thinks I would have trouble coming up with ideas - maybe once you get going at it the ideas flow, but many times it is more like "I wish I had THIS type of colour..." - actually, Brandi and I were discussing the other night that it'd be rad if we started our own line together! I am not sure if that convo was supposed to be secret but I think it would be so fun to do for fun and then maybe make some real money off of it!

Marisa-
I'm definitely not a creative mind, so I've never gotten the itch to create my own line.  I truly admire all of these awesome ladies who have taken that step.  There are so many awesome indie polishes out now (which my wallet doesn't like, btw).  So I happily support these lines because I can only imagine how much work it is for them to develop a concept and distribute their polishes.

Amanda-

To be honest, I've lately been thinking a lot more about starting my own polish line.  I'm not a frankener in the slightest and haven't really jumped on the indie polish bandwagon, but I'm really drawn to the creative side of polish marketing.  I am a nefarious critic of non-cohesive collections and even despite bad formulas, hugely respect excellent PR campaigns from certain brands.   If I created my own line, I'd leave the color production to the chemists and be more hands-on with the collection development and messaging.

I'd probably call my brand Dish, just because it's a slight riff off the blog name and it's fun to say and easy to remember.  My collections would be inspired by more retro, vintage things: one collection I thought up while stuck in traffic was inspired by the female TV icons of the '50s, like Lucille Ball and Imogen Coca.  Others might be inspired by classic cars and Humphrey Bogart films.  Clearly, as you can see, I haven't thought

Chelsea-
I’ve frankened a few bottles of polish but it’s not something I feel I have any sort of knack for. Sometimes I have an idea for a polish but I don’t think my execution or level of patience would match my initial idea. So I’ll leave it to the big brands and all of the immensely talented indie polish makers out there!

ChiChi-
I've never thought to make my own line. I'm just don't feel that creative. However, if I did have a line the brand would probably be called Starry Nails or something to do with stars.

I don't think I have the creativity to create my own line :(, all the polishes would probably look the same and have some dumb names LOL

Amy-
Other's creative ability is what inspired me to create my own polishes. When I choose my "brand name", I just played off my blogname, "I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous". I thought it was fitting as polishing making is an adventure, and I am learning every day!

Brandi-
I literally wake up in the middle of the night with ideas for a nail polish line. I would name my brand "Beaulieu" after my last name because I love it (it means "beautiful place" in French--or so I'm told), but I would want it to be recognizable and easy to spell. So it might end up being something off the wall. You guys should see my notes in my iPhone--they're filled with ideas for nail polish! Maybe one day soon. I would just want to be sure that I had the right resources and that I did everything the right way first.

Well I always thought that the idea of creating polishes was very cool. I did create some and I ended up calling them Fierce Frankens, after my blog name. Frankening is hard work and I applaud all of those girls that do it full time. Someday I may create another line but right now I am so into nail polish jewelry that my frankens have been but in the back burner. I do love all the awesome frankens out there and if I could I would own all of them. In this nail polish world we have some amazing talent.
Anna-
If I were to ever start my own brand, of course it would be.. “GoingtotheShowing”. After my blog, duh! But yes, seriously that’s what it would be. And if I did have my own polish brand/line, I have no idea what I would be inspired by. There are so many things and places! I don’t even know where to start!

Anne-
Living in Canada, I feel like we have limited access to a lot of fun brands.  There is always online purchasing, but shipping can be a b*tch!  So the next best thing for me is frankening!  I have squashed many a lemming by trying to recreate it myself!  If I started my own polish brand, I think I would name it Grape Fizz, just like my blog name!

It was so much fun reading all about everyone's brand ideas! So, now tell us a little bit about yourself and how you would like to call your own nail polish line.....

xoxo

  3. I really love everyone's answers. It is so neat to learn more about everyone <3

I have thought about making my own line a couple times, but I tend to lose focus and not be super creative. So I really don't think it would be a good idea. If I ever did it would be called Troll...long story, lol.

  4. Wow Amanda!! I had no idea you had such ideas! I know you'd be good at marketing it.

Nory, I miss your polishes :(. But the jewelry is awesome, so it's cool ;0).

Brandi, wow!! Sounds like you're on your way. Can't wait to see if you end up doing something.

  6. I'm a lot like Brandi! I come up with all these ideas for a NP line! I literally have 20 different polish ideas... I know I want to make my own line, wether its for retail or not, but it's something I want to do. It's just a matter of having the monetary resources to do it! I'll get there eventually. I have a few ideas of what I'd call my brand... but it's a secret! :)
