HOLA!
My 300th Post WOOOOOOO!
I recently had a rather bad few weeks emotionally. I had been dealing with a lot of situations all at once, and they were making me have major anxiety. I don't tend to share every single detail of my everyday life on my blog, but I really think that it is good to be honest about the reality of life.
I suffer from depression and anxiety. As hard as that was to actually type, I have to share it with all of you. Makeup and Nail Polish is really a way for me to focus on good positive things. At the end of the day I am a mere human and things get to me and break me down. I have been blessed with a wonderful nail polish community in which I have made some INCREDIBLE friends that help me deal with all the craziness one day at a time and we all comfort and care for each other.
So while trying to deal with all the madness, I decided that I was going to splurge a little on myself. Some of you may be thinking, "SPLURGE? You already buy $18 Nars polishes and $14 BL's and Illamasqua's!" and well while yes that is true, I have never actually purchased a Chanel polish. My reward to myself was to walk around the endless counters at Nordstroms and ended up at the Chanel counter, where a quite lovely sales lady assisted me in purchasing my first Chanel.
While the lovely sales lady did not have a final say in my decision and half of the time I may have wandered off to my "nail polish land" while she was trying to explain to me what shimmer was, (yes I know what shimmer is but I didn't want to be rude, so I listened politely and nodded) Melvin pointed out Pirate, and well my dude really knows how to spot a gorgeous polish, as many of you may remember a la Rare.
Pirate, is from a three polish micro release last fall 2011, a tomato crelly, that has an amazing chameleon quality to it. What I mean by chameleon is that it tends to really change depending on your skin tone and lighting, for example in the day (sunny) it was a beautiful maraschino cherry color, but then it had a bit of a tomato hint. While in artificial lighting it kind of turned into a gorgeous Vampy crelly.
This polish just screams SEXY, such an amazing formula, this is two coats and one coat of SV. The shine on this bad boy is incredible.
I love wearing reds because they make me feel so grown up. I always end up matching my makeup to my mani, so Ill always go vintage with the winged black liner and the big lashes and the POP of a red lipstick. Sigh, I was born in the wrong time period. LOL.
I hope I didn't bore you all with this long post. I just wanted to share a little more about me and my struggles. At the end of the day, for some of you that may deal with this as well, make sure to reach out to your friends and family. Make sure someone knows what is bothering you, life is difficult sometimes and I wouldn't want any of you to feel alone in your struggles. Feel free to reach out to me through email if you ever need a random stranger to listen, sometimes it's easier to have someone that is out of the reality of the situation to listen and comfort you. I may not be an expert but one thing is for sure I have been in low/sad places while dealing with depression.
Remember your life is beautiful, YOU matter! I wish I could hug all of you through my computer monitor, seriously.
Hugs from a fellow beauty junkie!!
xoxo

ReplyDeletePs please bring this to Atlanta. Kthxbai.
i deal with some of these same issues as you, and nail polish is something fun and pretty to focus on when i need a good happy distraction :) -- and oh my! this is a really lovely red. and for the money a chanel costs, this may well be my #1 wishlist polish. a really nice "basic" red, that's not-so-basic really. i love it!
ReplyDelete1. 300 posts? Amazing!
ReplyDelete2. You know how I feel about you, no need to go into it publicly except to let you know I heart you, lady!
3. Yes, Mel has awesome taste! Red Chanel is a classic!
4. I know what you mean by being born in the wrong era. I second your sigh.
Going through some family illness stuff at the minute and polish is my outlet, without it I think I would crack up, honestly. You're an inspiration to me and every other polish lover and your choice of polish is perfect. I don't know what I'd do without the amazing internet nail world. Love and hugs and congrats on 300 posts xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous red!

You are great and we love you, Nory! <3 I hope you are feeling a bit better now. I love reds, but rarely wear them, because I feel like its a "sexy" color. I know it sounds weird, but you know I'm not right anyways.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 300 posts! I'm glad to have this community too and I hope you know that you can reach out to me as well. I hope you're feeling better now. <3 :) Mel did pick out a great red!
